about
Platonic physical touch has become so elusive during the pandemic, and as someone who loves hugs, head scratches & hand squeezes, I really was feeling the lack. This song began as an attempt to expand my sensory fulfillment vocabulary. Taste, smoothies, aromas, deep vibrations, chanting, climbing, bathing. And it led me to find the breadth & depth of connection available through the other senses. I was completely floored to find how much of this can be explored through visualization and in dreams— the power of recalling how our skin felt to each other, the exhaustion of swimming in a planet of just water, our ability to take sparse zoom meetings and facetimes and then connect the dots in a daydream to create sensory continuity. In dreams and in real life, it all feels so vulnerable. To me, it feels a lot like being "bare bones on the winter snow" (lyric) and embracing the deep shiver from the snow.
